SA Paediatrics and Newborns (SAPAN) – Michaela Baulderstone
Michaela graduated from Flinders University Medical School in 1996. On completing her internship at the Flinders Medical Centre, Bedford Park SA, she worked in Paediatrics at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, North Adelaide. She was awarded a Post-graduate Diploma in Child Health in 1998. Michaela then specialised in Family Medicine and obtained the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2004. She then trained in the Griffiths Child Developmental Assessments in 2010 and in Medical Psychology (Interpersonal Therapy) in 2011.
Michaela is passionate about helping parents with the “best and hardest” job in the world. She is proud to be a certified provider of the two following evidence-based programs: “What’s the Buzz” child social and emotional skills programme (July 2016) and the Melbourne University “Tuning in to Kids” Parenting Program (May 2017).
Michaela can assist children with:
- Anxiety including panic, separation anxiety
- School refusal, school bullying
- Pre-diagnosis screening and management of:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Attention & Hyperactivity (ADHD or ADD)
- Learning challenges e.g. Dyslexia
- Toileting avoidance and toileting in holding behaviours
- Enuresis & Encopresis
- Emotional and behavioural concerns
- Depression, Anxiety or phobias
- Sleep problems
- Chronic and complex health conditions
- Intellectual & developmental disabilities
Michaela has achieved the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Recognition of Extended Skills in Developmental Disability and Psychological Medicine (2023). She is an active member of the RACGP Specific Interest Groups for Child & Young Person Health, ADHD, ASD & Neurodiversity, Disability and Psychological Medicine.
