Julie is a Registered Psychologist and AHPRA approved Supervisor, with over 22 years of experience in counselling, consulting, psychological assessment, supervision, training and management. Julie has experience working with both children and adults. She has a passion for assessment and enjoys the process of building a hypothesis, analysing information, drawing conclusions and providing strategies to support development. She has experience supervising provisionally Registered Psychologists completing Masters level training as well as those working through the 4+2 and 5+1 programs.
Julie has worked with the Department for Education for over 13 years where she has gained extensive experience conducting assessment and diagnosis in the areas of Global Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disability, Gifted and Talented, Specific Learning Disorders, play skills, social and behavioural needs as well as ADHD. Julie has experience working with children with neurodiverse and neurotypical presentations and ensures she takes the time to build rapport with each child so that they are comfortable and able to give their best effort through the assessment.
She is skilled in advising on evidence based intervention and strategies for accommodating learning, social, emotional and behavioural needs within mainstream classrooms and specialised education settings, as well as within the home. Julie consults with classroom teachers and school leadership staff on a regular basis, ensuring she has up to date knowledge of teaching the curriculum and the demands of classroom learning. She also offers professional development sessions to school staff and colleagues. Julie also has experience in the areas of career guidance/ vocational assessment and assessment used for medico- legal purposes, with clients from the private and public sector including Centrelink,WorkCover SA, SAPOL, Australian Federal Police, Australian Defence Force, mining and retail.
